About Mailyn

Welcome! I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a passion for helping people. I hold a clinical social work license in Maryland, Texas, Utah, and California - with clinical supervisor designation in Texas.
I work primarily with adults, but have experience working with children, adolescents, and couples.

As a social work clinician and Puerto Rican native, I enjoy giving clients the flexibility to engage in therapy in Spanish, if they so choose. My goal is to learn as much as possible about mental health to support my clients. I strive to provide an empathic, nonjudgmental space where those seeking
therapy can feel heard.

FAQ

Here are answers to questions I frequently receive

What can I expect from my first therapy session?

Your first session is a welcoming space for us to get to know each other. It's an opportunity for you to share what brings you to therapy, your goals, and any concerns you might have. We'll discuss the therapy process, confidentiality, and how we can work together to support your journey. Think of it as a first step towards understanding and change, in a safe and non-judgmental environment.

How long does each therapy session last?

Each therapy session is typically 60 minutes long. This timeframe allows us to dive deep into the topics at hand while respecting the rhythm of your day. Depending on the nature of our work together, the length and frequency of sessions can be adjusted to best meet your needs and goals.

How do I know which type of therapy is right for me?

Choosing the right therapy approach is a collaborative process. During our initial sessions, we'll explore your personal history, current challenges, and what you hope to achieve. Based on this, we can determine the most effective therapeutic approach that resonates with you, whether that's cognitive-behavioral, narrative, solution-focused or another modality. Our goal is to tailor the therapy to fit you, not the other way around.

Is everything I say in therapy confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. What you share in sessions stays between us, with very few exceptions related to safety and legal obligations. This confidentiality is crucial for creating a trusting and open environment where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of judgment or exposure.

Do you accept insurance?

Mailyn is not in network with any insurance carrier and does not accept insurance. However, upon request, Mailyn may provide you with a superbill for possible reimbursement from your insurance company. Mailyn accepts the following payment methods: Cash, Checks, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Discover, and Diners Club.

How often should I attend therapy sessions?

The frequency of therapy sessions varies depending on your individual needs, goals, and the nature of the issues you're addressing. Many people start with weekly sessions to maintain momentum and foster a strong therapeutic relationship. Over time, as you make progress, we might adjust the frequency to bi-weekly or monthly. We'll regularly assess together what's working best for you.

How much does therapy cost?

The initial session is 80 minutes, and the fee for this initial session is $220. After the initial session, you have an option to schedule future 60-minute or 80-minute sessions. The fee for a 60-minute session is $150, and the fee for an 80-minute session is $180.
